This school replaced the former Muirhouse and Silverknowes Primary schools (catchment areas have since been altered). It was opened in 2002, having been constructed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. It was one of a number of schools across the city that were built or refurbished as part of the first PPP group (PPP1).
